Another home game and another perfect morning for grassroots football. The Sharks made a fast start but struggled to find the breakthrough early on. That all changed when Archie came off the bench and opened the scoring with a long-range strike after Jack had won the ball back. George then turned home from the tightest of angles to make it two, before Ewan's long-range effort took a deflection off Rory and found the corner for the third shortly after. The fourth was a real team goal: a great pass down the right from Harris, a cross from Archie after he'd beaten his defenders, and a volley from George to finish it off. 4-0 at the break.
In the second half we made a number of positional changes to give everyone a different experience, including swapping the goalkeeper. It didn't disrupt the team, and Archie added another long-range effort which took a touch off a defender on its way into the net. The sixth was a moment of real quality from George, who picked up the ball in our own half, dribbled past every opposition player and calmly finished one-on-one with the keeper.
Allerton pulled one back late on when an effort from the edge of the area was well saved by Ewan but just dropped in under the bar.
Alfie - clean sheet first half in goal and plenty of driving runs through central midfield in the second.
Jack - always so calm and composed in defence, wins the ball cleanly and passes forward. Spent the second half up and down the wing.
Rory - scored his first goal of the season in the first half and then made some crucial tackles in the second half to stop Allerton being in on goal.
Harris - covered so much ground, won the ball back all over the pitch and showed fantastic skills.
Charlie - the player Rodri dreams he'll one day be as good as.
Maxton - today's captain after showing so much improvement in the last few training sessions and matches. Getting better every week.
Ewan - unfortunate not to have scored a goal or two in a brilliant first half performance. Made a number of good saves in the second half.
Archie - two goals and another all action performance.
George - hat trick and not a blade of grass that didn't see the underside of his boots.
Coaches POTM went to Jack and Parents POTM was, for the second time this season, voted as a tie between George and Rory.
Great performance full of desire, skill and teamwork produced some fantastic football. Well done all! ?
