Martin Inman

Sharks dominating the field.

Another dominant performance from the Sharks this morning. From the first whistle the boys were at it, hardly letting Lindley Moor have a moment on the ball.
The opening goal came after 7 minutes, following a driving run by Ewan, whose powerful low effort sneaked in through the keeper's legs. Two minutes later the lead was doubled when Charlie found George with a pass through midfield. George beat a couple of defenders and passed the ball into the net with the outside of his right foot. He added another after 16 minutes when Maxton helped the ball on into the box and George smashed home a volley. Archie then got his first of the game after winning the ball in central midfield, bursting forward and firing into the bottom corner.
Lindley Moor pulled one back from their first dangerous attack of the game. They showed great determination to win the ball and keep the pressure on our defence, and when we couldn't get it clear, a nice finish into the bottom corner left Alfie with no chance.
We added our fifth goal just before the half-time whistle, at the end of an excellent first 25 minutes. Ewan's corner was deflected up in the air and Rory reacted quickest to stab home from close range.
The second half followed a similar pattern. Archie scored almost carbon-copy goals on 30 and 38 minutes to complete his hat-trick, each time winning the ball in midfield, beating a few defenders and smashing it into the back of the net from the edge of the area. George then got his third of the game in similar fashion, picking up the ball on the left side of midfield, driving inside, taking on the defenders and curling it into the top corner from outside the area. That's back-to-back hat-tricks for George now!
The last attack of the match went to Lindley Moor, whose attacker broke free of our defence and had two efforts on goal, both saved brilliantly at point-blank range by our amazing goalkeeper Alfie.
It was tough choosing a POTM today for the coaches as they all had worked so hard and performed so well, but it was Maxton who was named todays 'Grumpy Fryer POTM' for his efforts and the progression he has shown since starting in the summer.
The Parents voted Archie as their POTM, a fine three goals and outstanding effort all over the pitch.
Great team performance from everyone. Well done all!
