A brilliant battling performance from the Sharks away at Kirkheaton Youth FC.
Playing 6v6 and having no substitutes available, the team produced some of their best passing football of the season. In an end-to-end first half, the Sharks built confidently from defence, pushed a strong Kirkheaton team backwards and created several chances they were unlucky not to convert.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with both teams playing some excellent football. As tiredness began to take effect, the Sharks conceded a couple of unfortunate goals in quick succession. However, their heads never dropped, and they continued battling for every ball and worked for each other until the final whistle.
Player highlights:
Harvey - battled tirelessly up front, producing some excellent link-up play and was unlucky not to score.
Austin - made several great saves in the first half before working hard and winning the ball repeatedly in midfield in the second period.
Edie - was a rock in defence and battled for every ball. In the second half moved into goal and impressed with her saves and excellent distribution.
Jasper - completed his first full game for the Sharks, a big step up and a very proud moment for him.
Jacob - was the midfield engine, contributing in defence and attack and making several powerful runs towards the Kirkheaton goal as the game progressed.
George G - central to Sharks build up play from the back and showed great passing range and reading of the game. Moved forward in the second half and helped link both defence and attack whilst disrupting Kirkheaton from moving forwards.
Player of the Match: Harvey
